Country-Specific Reporting
In the “Settings in Shopify” tab, there are options for how your business is registered for VAT on sales to other countries. You can choose from the following options:
Micro-Business
Choose this if your business sells up to €10,000 in sales to other EU countries and if you plan to submit a single VAT return for all EU countries.
OSS and/or Country-Specific Registration
Choose this if you plan to submit an OSS report and/or a VAT return in each EU country you deliver to. Select the option that matches your operation and then click “next” to proceed to the configuration of sales accounts.
Tips!
The tool you now have access to allows you to direct the accounting for selected countries to specific accounts in your chart of accounts. These accounts are normally not standard, so to work efficiently with the tool, you need to first configure your chart of accounts in your financial system so that there are different sales accounts active for the countries you want to include in your OSS report or otherwise report separately.
OSS Sales
Here, choose which EU country or countries you want to have reported under separate accounts by clicking on the country's checkbox.
* Then select which VAT rate you want to report and then under “Sales” choose which sales account from your business system you want the sales to be reported on. Under “VAT,” choose which VAT account from your business system the VAT should be reported for.
* Note here that the app will not suggest an account from your chart of accounts; you must actively go in and choose the right accounts.
* Then repeat this process with all the countries for which you want country-specific reporting.
Countries Outside the EU
If you want to report sales for a country or countries outside the EU, this is also possible in the app. Select “Add country” from the dropdown menu to choose which country and specify accounts for the VAT rate you want to report VAT for:
Once you have made these settings for all your countries, you will have a good basis for upcoming reporting for your different countries where you have separate VAT reporting.
Note! We recommend that you verify all configurations and chosen accounts with those who assist you with your accounting.
